Unfortunately Australia has a significant shortage of psychiatrists, with rural and remote areas being especially impacted.
In view of this, we offer online consults known as 'telehealth' or 'telepsychiatry', in which we can see patients in rural, regional and remote
Australia using widely available video calling programs - all that's needed is a reasonably fast and reliable internet connection, and you can even
use your phone or tablet! A GP referral is always required.
The Australian Government recognises this significant shortage of psychiatrists, and as such provides increased medicare rebates for telehealth
services, and for eligible patients, there is no out of pocket fee for this service. Please note however, failure to attend a confirmed appointment or cancellations with less than 24 hours notice will result in a cancellation fee of $99+GST, which will not be waived under any circumstances and is required to be paid before any future appointments will be booked.
Click on the map below, select "Mondified Monash Model (2019)" and search for your home address as registered with Medicare. If the map shows that you live in an area designated "MM2" through to "MM7" then you are eligible for medicare funding.
